NSF Funded Innovative Postdoctoral Entrepreneurial Research Fellowship (I-PERF)
1 year Fellowship with possibility of full-time employment after completion

We're currently looking for a highly motivated and experienced Protein Scientist to join our team. We need someone who is willing to adapt and learn new techniques as needed by the company. Post-doctoral research will cover one or more of the following projects: development and optimization of downstream processes and protein purification, protein engineering, or strain development. As a key member, you'll be working on a cross-disciplinary team to develop Opera’s core protein manufacturing platform for commercialization. These responsibilities include:

Contribute to the planning and execution of research projects

Develop new downstream processes for proteins made from our expression host for a wide range of proteins
-
Transfer processes to commercial manufacturing facilities
-
Streamline bioprocesses to reduce the overall cost and improve efficiency of purification and characterization
-
Maintain accurate documentation of experimental procedures and results
-
Create and document new internal lab processes
We're looking for a candidate with the following required qualifications:
-
Received a Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field within the last 7 years
-
U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
-
Experience in a laboratory setting
-
A demonstrated ability to design, execute, troubleshoot, and interpret experiments
-
The agility, curiosity, and drive to tackle projects varying from downstream purification to strain engineering and everything in between
Additionally, an ideal candidate will also have:

Experience in protein downstream processing, including converting benchtop processes to industrial processes

Knowledge of analytical methods commonly used for protein purification
-
Experience in bioprocess development and optimization in an industrial or biomanufacturing setting.
